Private equity is everywhere around us but few people realize it. The American Investment Council (AIC) wanted a campaign to show the public the positive impact of private equity investment in communities across the country. We profiled a wide variety of individual companies that have used PE investment to grow their business and better serve their customers. ABS Kids is a PE-backed company that provides applied behavior analysis therapy to children with autism. Partnering with private equity allowed ABS Kids to expand within its home state of Utah and eventually open facilities in California, North Carolina, and Tennessee. We set out to shine a spotlight on the services ABS Kids provides to children with autism and how private equity helped make it possible.
To achieve our goal of demonstrating how private equity has helped ABS Kids grow and better serve children with autism, we flew out to Salt Lake City, UT to interview the CEO of ABS Kids as well as ABA therapists and employees. We researched the benefits of ABA therapy and curated questions specific to ABS Kids to learn more about how much they’ve grown since private equity investment, as well as what type of resources they were able to utilize with their private equity backing.
Our efforts resulted in a quality video that accurately showed all the different ways private equity has benefited ABS Kids and the greater ABA community. We highlighted how the private equity investment allowed them to expand their staff, keep jobs secured during the pandemic, and provide the best resources possible for the children they work with.
