The Cold vs. Gold Challenge

Objectives

This video was part of Columbia Sportswear's "The Gold Standard in Warmth" campaign to promote the Omni-heat infinity jacket. The objective of the project was to test the jackets by putting them through the coldest conditions in the world while keeping Columbia's signature tone of poking fun and saying everything with a smirk.

Strategy and Execution

By juxtaposing “hardcore” Alaskan gear testing moments with a playful tone and our talent’s comedic gifts, this short video leaned directly into Columbia’s #Coldbeatsgold messaging.

Results

This was a successful campaign where we hit our benchmarks with the number of views on social media, had an extremely positive response from client, and had high engagement from viewers.

In terms of performance, the video had an average % viewed that was +92% over the benchmark for videos and the landing page had an incredible 22.99% CTR which beat our CTR benchmark by more than 1,000%, a testament to how Matador's program was able to excite our audience about the Omni-Heat product.
