Objective

We’re sowing the seeds of sustainability by creating and sharing inspiring, purpose-driven and solution-oriented stories across social media. We use our voice on Instagram to foster optimism and a sense of personal empowerment, informing our growing and engaged community of the small steps they can take today to tackle climate change as well as big ideas, big events and big solutions that are doing the same.

Strategy

Curation is king: We’re incredibly picky about the stories we produce, and we ensure data, design and our purpose-driven mission are behind every choice we make. Waste-Ed stories are carefully vetted to ensure accuracy and honesty - no greenwashing allowed! We fact-check and double-check and we listen to our audience: there’s no better way to gauge our success than by the growth of our following, and Waste-Ed’s hyper-engaged Instagram community teaches us new ways to be sustainable every day. From eco-product features to plant-based recipes to green living initiatives and unwrap-the-holiday campaigns, Waste-Ed’s editorial team carefully tailors content for strategic distribution in feed, Stories, IGTV and Reels, understanding the technical specificities of each format, to ensure we’re optimizing our use of the platform. Finally, we work with content creators and contributors from across the world who help make our impact global.

Results

Waste-Ed saw astronomical growth on Instagram in 2020: Our audience expanded by 275% as we added hundreds of thousands of followers to our active community of eco-warriors. We maintain engagement rates that set us apart from the competition: at 4% Waste-Ed engages at twice the industry standard rate for pages this size, and our average Stories completion rate is over 90%.
