Objective

It’s a Southern Thing loves to explore the quirks and nuances that set us apart from the rest of the country through our weekly sketch comedy show, "So True, Y'all." We are always thinking about what our audience will find relatable (hence, the name of the show) and what will motivate them to share or comment. "If Genies Were Southern" checks all of those boxes.

Strategy

A distinctively Southern genie who only grants wishes his way was the perfect vehicle to highlight a few of the unique aspects of life in the South. From the genie’s primary residence (a magic gravy boat) to his only caveat when granting someone the ability to fly (there will be a layover in Atlanta) we aimed to produce something our audience would find both relatable and hilarious.

Results

"If Genies Were Southern" was one of our most popular videos of 2020. It had 10 million views across Facebook, YouTube and Instagram. It had more than 264,000 engagements, was shared more than 76,000 times and helped bring in new audience to the overall It's a Southern Thing brand.
