Pride marks the anniversary of a rebellion that continues to fuel the movement for the rights of people in the LGBTQIA+ community. This is what we celebrate when we celebrate Pride. We celebrate the power of voices united. We celebrate continued progress.
Freeform is a renowned purveyor of characters who are activists, artists, and leaders. They represent different races, religions, and sexualities. Freeform’s Millennial and Gen Z audiences share those ideals, and also see Pride Month as an opportunity to expand ideas and push the cultural conversation forward.
Celebrating Pride Month in June, Hulu spread messaging across all of its properties inspiring messages of support as well as engaging content to embolden ideas, educate, and start conversations.
Campaign elements included brand spots, a music video featuring body positive LGBTQ activist Dexter Mayfield, LGBTQ history lessons, illustrations featuring current changemakers, and “Questions to Stop Asking Bi-sexual People” featuring LGBTQ comedian Jay Jurden.
In June 2020, Freeform launched the #ProgressisPride campaign. On the heels of the George Floyd Protests, our pride campaign focused on highlighting and amplifying BIPOC activists and figures whose resilience and determination created lasting change for the LGBTQ community and continue to shape our future.
