Objectives

From traditional tea houses in Central Asia to monasteries in the mountains of Bhutan, our Instagram feed is a selection of the best travel pics and videos on #WorldNomads. To inspire and support our global community of travelers, we also share content from our Discoveries video series, Travel Guides and promote our yearly scholarship opportunities to aspiring travel filmmakers, photographers and writers.

Strategy and Execution

Our growth on Instagram has been driven by community generated content on #WorldNomads. We showcase the best pics and videos daily and have built a growing community of over 230k followers. We also use Instagram to share our Discoveries video series in shorter formats. A recent example of this are clips from our Mexico Discoveries series covering topics like the traditional practice of Mezcal production, Mayan culture in modern-day Mexico and how traditional gender roles and Mexican identity are changing. To help our travellers prepare and plan for their next adventure, we produce free travel guides. These downloadable guides offering insider tips on how to have the best experience while traveling in destinations like China, Argentina, India and more. Instagram also allows us connect aspiring travel filmmakers, photographers and writers with amazing mentorship opportunities via our yearly scholarships. We promote these opportunities through our channel. Instagram Stories also allows our winners to share their experience on the road while being mentored.

Results

We’ve grown our following to 230,000 at @WorldNomads, a 63% increase year over year and over 1m posts have been shared to Instagram using #WorldNomads to date. In 2019, World Nomads was ranked the most engaging brand in the Finance Industry by Social Bakers. Our Travel Guides have been downloaded by over 16,000 travelers this year and video content like our Mexico Discoveries series help drive our channel impressions up by 144% year over year to 65M impressions. In 2019 we also had our most successful scholarship campaign with over 12,000 applicants to our Travel Writing Scholarship in Portugal. A majority of these leads were driven by our Instagram channel.
