American costume designer Ruth E. Carter worked on some of the biggest and most powerful films in recent cinematic history. Designing the costumes and wardrobes for the Afro-futurist aesthetic in Black Panther, she earned an Academy Award in costume design last year, a groundbreaking milestone as the first African-American woman to win in that category. She also worked with Eddie Murphy to zero in on that powerful 70’s vintage look that helped to define 2019’s hit movie Dolomite is My Name. She’s dressed and impressed her way to being a hit on social media, with over 170K Instagram followers and 30K+ on Twitter who try and keep up with Ruth’s exciting life.
