Sometimes finding the perfect wedding look, at the right price, can be harder than finding "The One".
Brides on a Budget, a TLC GO Original series follows four different brides as they attempt to complete their dream wedding looks, without breaking the bank! Hosted by fashion + beauty expert and InStyle Editor Kahlana Barfield Brown, these budget brides prove that you don't have to sacrifice funds or fabulousness to achieve a runway worthy walk down the aisle.
Brides on a Budget was developed as a digital-exclusive original series for TLC GO, the brand's mobile on-demand service. With a focus on providing a compelling viewing experience for both an established cable TV audience as well as a uniquely digital audience. Our aim was to create programming that captured a blended viewership, of TLC fans and new audiences.
The GO Original team worked closely with TLC's linear arm to outline their established on-air programming thematics, and identified the spaces in which to expand on areas of interest, digitally.
Brides on a Budget was developed to be complementary to TLC's linear "bridal" coverage, while also being curated through a youthful & digitally focused lens.
From the ground up, the content was produced with a digital audience in mind, taking a linear format and incorporating elements such as process videos, Hair & Make Up tutorials, and accessible styling takeaways, making it inherently more sharable for a social audience, and maximizing opportunities for viewer engagement.
The series contributed to overwhelmingly positive engagement across the Discovery brand GO apps - leading to increased mobile GO streams, viewer retention, and new user acquisitions.
