2018 iHeartRadio GIPHY Stickers

Research showed that in 2018, 69 percent of consumers used GIFs in their personal communication. To be on the forefront of the trend of GIPHY stickers in Instagram Stories, iHeartRadio set out to enhance their brand at live events by creating original and custom GIF stickers for their tentpole events.

Strategy and Execution

For four of iHeartRadio's tentpole events, the iHeartRadio social team and creative studio team brainstormed unique ways to highlight the iHeartRadio logo and the theme of the specific event in GIF sticker form. From the iHeartRadio Awards trophy accepting an award at the iHeartRadio Music Awards, to the iHeartRadio logo riding in a limo to the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas, to the iHeartRadio logo creating a snow angel for the iHeartRadio Jingle Ball, the social and creative studio teams were able to capture the essence of each tentpole event. These animated GIF stickers were utilized by musicians, celebrity guests and fans at each event to enhance their festival experiences.


According to GIPHY analytics, iHeartRadio's custom GIPHY stickers generated over 70.1M organic views across Instagram Stories and other social platforms in 2018. These GIFs also helped to propel each of iHeartRadio's tentpole events to become US and worldwide trending topics in 2018.
