Finalist in Health, Fitness & Medical Apps

Objectives

Hospitals say they want to keep the community healthy but very few actually walk the walk until community members become patients. We were tasked by our client, Health Quest, with developing a community program to encourage a healthy lifestyle within the Hudson Valley region.

Strategy and Execution

We designed and built an online-based fitness challenge called Get Fit Hudson Valley (GFHV). GFHV is a 6-week fitness challenge that happens in the spring and the fall to encourage the Hudson Valley community to be active and stay in shape.

Participants were asked to log 30-minutes of fitness activity at over 70+ participating locations we partnered with to enter. Locations included local gyms, national parks, yoga studios, dance studios, etc. The more entries participants submitted, the better their chances to win better healthier prizes.

We built a mobile web app where participants could log their activity, follow and encourage their friends, as well as access exclusive healthy content our team developed with Health Quest's physicians. We promoted the challenge using Health Quest's social media channels and Health Quest's email list.

Results

In just two years, over 4,000 users have signed up for the challenge. Over 2,000 additional email addresses have been collected for Health Quest's mailing list. Participants spend an average of three minutes on the website. During the challenge periods, website sees over 20,000 visits. Over 600 user-generated Instagram photos have been posted using the hasthag #GETFITHV. We grew from 2 participating locations to over 70.
