Wendy's wanted to add national scale to a local PR event in Chicago centred around their flagship hamburger, The Baconator.

Why does this entry deserve to win?

Our strategy was to activate an influencer who matched our target demographic and could communicate Baconator attributes in and unusual and interesting way to his or her vast audience.

The execution was simple but oh so effective. We tapped Cody Johns to show up at the local PR Baconator event. He used Periscope to show his 1.05 million followers how to make a Baconator, step-by-step, ingredient-by-ingredient.


Cody's followers, (and many others) ate it up:

Cody's Periscope had nearly 300K viewers making it one of the most viewed branded Periscopes ever with a view rate of 8.8%

The effort resulted in 18K engagements, 940K impressions, and a total reach of 6.4M.

These numbers far surpassed Wendy's benchmarks for Periscope and our goals for the effort.
