The Power of Travel, Marriott Bonvoy

Objective

The overall objective was to create a truly powerful and inspiring series of films that are values first and showcase impactful, entertainment forward stories that spotlight travel as a means for change. The goals for The Power of Travel films were reaching and engaging new audiences for Marriott by securing distribution with a major streaming platform, elevating positive brand perception and driving awareness for Marriott Bonvoy and it's portfolio of brands and hotels. In addition to the storytelling, there was a dedicated focus on building a team of vibrant storytellers and filmmakers with authentic perspectives to collaborate on each of the films. 

Strategy

Produced by Marriott’s Content Studio, in partnership with Culture House, The Power of Travel documentary short films follow the personal causes of three inspirational individuals determined to create a better world through travel by cultivating communities with people all over the world. The films are deep, personal stories focusing on how their past gives them a purpose and direction for the future. Travel is an integral part of their journey as they make connections across borders, across oceans or even just across the street. From ensuring the safety of queer travelers, to using travel and nature as a medium through which to connect with one's culture, to creating safe spaces in the wine industry for BIPOC communities to show up as their true selves; each short film captures the journey taken, the roads traveled, and the time spent to create uplifting spaces, making travel accessible and enjoyable for all.

The Power of Travel series was distributed and promoted on Amazon Prime Video in the United States from November 2023 through January 2024 and is still available to be streamed on the platform today. The series can also be found on Marriott Bonvoy’s YouTube channel and can be watched in participating Marriott Bonvoy hotels around the world.

Results

The Power of Travel series is the second distribution collaboration between the Marriott Content Studio and Amazon Prime Video. The Marriott Content Studio is at the forefront of getting their content distributed by major streaming platforms, continuing to target and reach audiences who have come to avoid traditional ads. The performance of The Power of Travel on Amazon Prime Video was a huge success for Marriott with high performing numbers in both paid and organic reach, with video views and completion rate metrics achieving very high results compared to benchmarks.
