The Blackest Questions

Entered in Podcast

The heart of the Blackest Questions is Black History trivia and recognizing the unsung accomplishments of Black people. The questions get progressively more challenging each round. Dr. Greer is known to even stump professors and experts in the field. However, we aim to create difficult questions that will strike thought-provoking conversations with our guests. From Black shark experts, civil rights leaders, Olympic athletes, comedians, and athletes. The soul of the show is the conversations. Whether our guests get every question right or wrong, everyone leaves a little smarter and a whole lot wiser.

(Episode 38 - Baratunde Thurston Teaching Us How To Be Black and Good Citizens)

Black History is American History. Oftentimes, the contributions of Black people go unnoticed by the world. theGrio set out to change that by creating The Blackest Questions. The video podcast is a Black history trivia and talk show featuring entertainers, history makers, and celebrities. It’s an opportunity for viewers and listeners to learn more about Black history than ever before. Host Dr. Christina Greer is an Associate Professor of Political Science at Fordham University. Topics include news, sports, entertainment, pop culture, and more. In addition to fun facts, the podcast consists of great conversations.

TheGrio producing team does extensive background research on each guest. We then take that information about their career, hometown, education, family, etc., and then use it to create Black history trivia questions. The strategy is whether or not the guest gets the answer right or wrong; the question leads to a great conversation. Whether it’s an actor you grew up watching, an athlete you idolized, or the most recent news and history makers, while they play the game, viewers and listeners get to know our guests on a personal level as we celebrate, honor, and recognize Black History in every form.

In a time when Critical Race Theory, Black History, and African-American Studies are under attack on local, state, and national levels, The Blackest Questions honors the contributions and achievements of Black Americans in a fun, unapologetic, and empowering way.
