Boston University's College of Communication has demonstrated success in the development and education of communication professionals for a century. We represent a vibrant community of media literate communicators that span the fields of Journalism, Film & Television Production, Media Studies, Advertising, and Public Relations.
From our use of video production, including a fun academic advising series, insightful alumni interviews, and an award winning reality web series (2014 Telly Award, 2014 Davey Award, 2014 W3 Award), to our various student run social media accounts (COM Ambassadors Twitter and Blog), much of COM's social media presence is dictated by our incredible student body.
The #myCOM100 social media campaign highlights and reflects the daily passion and dedication our students, staff, faculty, and alumni have for communication excellence. Our entry into this year's Shorty Awards for brands, agencies, and organizations honors these individuals and reflects our belief that social media is at the heart of maintaining this vibrant community in the 21st century.
For the duration of Alumni Weekend 2014, Boston University's College of Communication initiated a hashtag campaign centered around #myCOM100 in order to connect faculty, alumni, and current students via multiple social media platforms.
With over 1,000 posts and 1,000,000 impressions, the initial launch of #myCOM100 was the #1 trending topic in Boston, MA and #4 world wide. Combining a variety of images and videos collected during the campaign, a team of COM students shot, edited, and produced our #myCOM100 highlight video.
The #myCOM100 campaign reflects COM's daily commitment to advancing and enhancing the educational experience for our community through social media use.
For these reasons, we believe we are the perfect candidate to win this year's Shorty Award in Education.
