People with trouble swallowing are confused, concerned, and frustrated by a lack of helpful resources. Let’s create an unbranded disease awareness website to help people recognize potential symptoms of EoE and talk to their doctors. The goal is to empower people to seek answers and find a specialist to get diagnosed.
Eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE) is a condition that causes trouble swallowing. It’s a complicated disease— tricky to diagnose, hard to say, and even harder to live with. So we created a cast of friendly and relatable animated characters to provide guidance and help educate people about EoE.
The Adventures of the EsophaCrew website shows how these characters deal with this complex and relatively new medical condition. The fun, informative microsite educates people through animated videos, educational comics, and interactive resources to learn the lingo and facts about the disease.
Gus and the EsophaCrew deliver bite-sized knowledge about EoE symptoms, what causes it, which doctors diagnose it, and why EoE is often overlooked.
This engaging and educational website uses friendly, animated characters and simple UX to teach people about EoE. The site features videos illustrating life with EoE and provides helpful resources like third party links where patients can find support, an e-newsletter sign-up, a downloadable brochure, links to patient advocacy groups to foster a sense of community, and a discussion guide with EoE lingo to have an informed conversation with their doctor.
Just a month after the site’s launch, outstanding performance metrics indicate the design and content is highly engaging:
• 8x Longer Average Session Duration than the industry average (over 10 minutes longer)
• 2.5X Higher Pages Viewed Per Session rate than the industry average
• 46% Lower Bounce Rate compared to the industry benchmark
The EsophaCrew site was also recognized winning 15 industry awards thus far.
