“PSA: Protect Our Families” is a a GLAAD-produced public service announcement that introduces viewers to Amber Briggle, the mother of a transgender child. Families with transgender kids are just like any other family: they love their kids unconditionally and simply want the best for them. But some politicians are trying to tear these families apart. After viewers meet the Briggle family and their son Max, they are shown where to sign up for more information and check out partner resources on how they can help ensure families like the Briggles don’t have to live in fear. The goal of "PSA: Proect Our Families" is to shine light on the ways that families with transgender kids are just like any other family and show families like the Briggles the resources that are out there for them.
"PSA: Protect Our Families" is in response to the 2022 Texas directive which calls for investigations of child abuse into parents of transgender kids and teens. Briggle calls on viewers to stand with her in her fight for equality, by checking out the website http://equality-now.org. The site is owned and operated by GLAAD and features up to date information on LGBTQ youth and how to show support for them. This PSA was created as part of GLAAD’s efforts to spread humanizing stories about LGBTQ young people and their families.
Comcast NBCUniversal, Paramount, WarnerMedia, The Walt Disney Company, and the Ad Council all donated air time to the PSA.
