Objectives

The E! Online app extends the popular E! Online brand to a new platform and ensures our content is seen by as many consumers as possible. The app is designed to give users all the latest headlines, videos and photos from the world of entertainment through a personalized, immersive multimedia experience. The app was designed specifically for touchscreen devices using the latest technology, and features even more content than before. The E! Online app can be easily navigated with a horizontal swipe between stories, and there is deep linking between other stories and sections of the app. With the app E! wanted to provide consumers an easy to use product that would entertain and inform them, while leveraging the functionality of the mobile device and platform allowing them to have constant access to the content they love, all on their iPhone or Android. E! Online app has an entirely new, patent-pending liquid advertising platform that makes ads dynamic and impactful and the most buzzworthy celebrity happenings, photos and videos readily accessible. With the app, users are able to stay constantly connected with up to the minute articles from the world’s leading source in entertainment news, Eonline. They can view clips and online bonuses from their favorite series like The Soup, Chelsea Lately and Keeping Up with the Kardashians and check out the latest celebrity news and entertainment headlines from E! News Now. The app also includes live streaming events including Live From E! which is broadcast daily from E!’s newsroom. The E! Online app has the capability to carry live streams and instantly highlights the biggest stories of the day so users don’t have to scroll through stories to see what’s hot. With push notifications notifying users of breaking and exclusive news, pop culture fans can rest assured and they’ll always be in the know. It implements the proprietary featured stack logic to surface the most compelling content to users at launch of the app. The app’s design plays off the metaphor of flipping through a stack of photos, allowing for a 10-fold increase in the number of photo galleries surfaced. Users can flip through thousands of high resolution, gorgeous celebrity photos in 100+ galleries, and stay on top of the day’s hot topics and trending stars. There are also photo segue screens at the end of galleries to promote other great photo content. In the videos section, over 10 E! franchises are represented with a deep content library of on air clips and exclusive bonus clips. The show content is featured in a fun, interactive parallax effect. Plus, there is an option to purchase full episodes directly from iTunes. E! fans are pop culture-obsessed and E! Online is the premiere destination for up-to-the-minute entertainment news and celebrity inside information presented in a fun, irreverent tone. The E! Eonline is an unparalleled online resource for celebrity driven entertainment designed specifically for multiple devices so fans never have to worry about missing the latest breaking news stories, checking out photos of their favorite stars or catching up with the Kardashians in video clips.
