At a time when many are seeing the effects of climate change growing, it’s more important than ever to take action, stay motivated, and focus on what can be done to help the environment. You may not be able to fix global warming, but you can plant a tree for as little as $1. When millions of people do that, we can restore the world’s forests.
Our mission at One Tree Planted is to elevate the vital role of trees in addressing climate change, while making it extremely simple for anyone to support reforestation.
Our projects span the globe and are done in partnership with local communities and knowledgeable experts to create an impact for nature, people, and wildlife. Reforestation helps to rebuild forests after fires and floods, provide jobs for social impact, and restore biodiversity. Many of our projects have overlapping objectives, creating a combination of benefits that contribute to the UN's Sustainable Development Goals and the upcoming UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration. We are part of the US chapter of 1t.org, the World Economic Forum’s Trillion Tree Initiative, as well as being partners with the World Resources Institute, the US Forest Service, and 241 additional global partners in a powerful network we have established in service of ecological restoration.
People around the globe can get involved, learn about the environment, and plant trees!
Here are some of the ways we mobilize funding towards reforestation:
Business Partner Program: We connect with many businesses in order to help them achieve their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) objectives and actively support environmental restoration.
Volunteer Events: Giving people the opportunity to directly connect with nature builds the desire to help save it. We do this through community-building engagement activities like tree planting events.
School Curriculum: Through our T.R.E.E.S School Program we’re teaching reforestation, environmental engagement, and sustainability to grade school, high school, and university classrooms. We’ve compiled lesson plans that provide a comprehensive look at our environment with complimentary modules and assets & activities. We know just how important it is for students today to learn about the natural environment, we believe it’s just as important to get outside and get your hands in the dirt.
Creative Digital Content: We produce short films to tell stories about our projects and the local communities they impact, as well as a breadth of other digital content to inspire, engage, and motivate people to take action.
Reforestation Projects: The heart and soul of our mission, our reforestation projects are what it’s all about, this is the real work of restoring forests for the long-term benefit of people, nature, and biodiversity.
In 2020, despite the global pandemic, we are on track to plant over 10 million trees by the end of the year thanks to support from donors and business partners.
