As the leading Hispanic media company in the U.S., Univision is committed to informing, entertaining and empowering its audience. We stepped up our empowerment efforts by launching a company-wide day of action on November 30th, 2018 that featured a series of volunteer activities across the country in the various, diverse communities we serve.
Univision embarked on a day of action that paired our local affiliate TV and Radio stations with partners and organizations in the community allowing each market to create volunteer activities that best reflected their area and focus on the needs of that locality. This was coupled with a nationally-branded campaign which ensured all activations existed under one recognizable umbrella.
Joining with our community partners, 26 Univision markets undertook various volunteer activities across the country in order to improve local communities. This took the form of 45 individual activations nationwide. Some representative examples include cities like Miami, where CEO Vince Sadusky led a team of employees at the Feeding South Florida food bank to provide needed staples to families in need. In New York, employees volunteered at The Bronx Food Distribution Warehouse sorting and repacking food for redistribution around the city; while others led a class in partnership with Junior Achievement at PS 4 Duke Ellington teaching students the importance of financial literacy and staying in school. In Fresno, Univision employees partnered with Habitat for Humanity to help build homes for low-income families in need of safe, affordable and reliable housing. Univision San Antonio employees helped newly-arrived immigrant families by providing them with basic supplies as they continue their journey to reunite with family already in the United States.Unidos Por Los Nuestros produced incredible results for the communities in which our viewers and listeners live. Overall 926 Univision employees participated in 45 activations in 26 markets across the country. Our company donated 3,400 volunteer hours, picked up 1,100 pounds of trash, served or prepared 3,300 meals, and collected 9,800 donations which totaled to 127,000 pounds of food. We also saw a steady stream of social media posts amplifying the message of giving back.
