Peace & _____ is a 3-part docu digital series that celebrates refugees as they connect with their new host communities through the sharing of their passions. With the sharing of talents shared by individuals worldwide we open up a conversation that can create bridges of peace and understanding.
Our objective was to inspire our audience by highlighting resettled Syrians who fought the odds to safely leave Syria and now are thriving, connecting to their new neighbors by doing what they love.
It was important to highlight a variety of passions that people from around the world can understand and appreciate. Dance, food and music speak an international language that we hoped would bridge a deeper conversation amongst our audience to the Syrian refugee community.
By diving deep into the personal journeys of our subjects, we strove to build empathy for where they came from and the uphill battle they continue to fight for acceptance. With moments highlighting where they use their talents to connect to their new host communities, we created a larger message of peace and acceptance.
The Peace & series experienced high viewership and engagement, with the series garnering over a tremendous 16.6 million views on Facebook and YouTube video players. The entire series was posted on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and on Fusion.net's website and has acquired over 200,000 shares.
The series created a very real and thoughtful conversation around the refugee crisis. We see very active engagement with comments including those celebrating the acceptance of our subjects.
