From childhood onward, Black boys receive compliments about their physical features planting seeds of direction towards sports, but what if we planted different seeds? Through a compelling short film, we set out to illustrate how a young boy's hands are a constant within an ever-changing world that gives him a seat at the table with his idols.
To open minds and opportunities for Black boys, we developed a creative approach that seamlessly merged the cultural insights and lived experiences of young Black boys into a film that brought to life what could be to showcase the path their very own hands could forge as they strive for greatness.
Our short film, These Hands, garnered millions of views across social media and was broadcast during the OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network's initiative 'WidenThe Screen’ to highlight a view into Black Life across linear and digital. Igniting conversation across feeds, it was evident the piece inspired viewers to spread the word as velocity around the film grew since its release.
