Objective

The idea driving this project was to give caregivers a tool in their nightly routine to help their little ones climb into bed and rest easy as Nick Jr.’s Goodnight Bedtime Stories makes bedtime a dream! Along with their favorite Nick Jr. friends they go from playtime to bedtime with a carefully crafted mix of gentle songs, stories and nighttime routines that will make winding down the day special. With this official Nickelodeon podcast, caregivers can focus on providing the most important part of bedtime: those extra special cuddles!

Strategy

Our strategy was to research with parents and kids to discover their needs for pain points in their daily lives.  Bedtime was their top priority. Families also wanted content with their favorite characters. We created this bedtime series to spotlight kids' favorite characters- Paw Patrol, Dora, Blaze, Blue’s Clues— along with the best combination of bedtime practices— catchy songs, stories, mindful practices, affirmations, stretches, all wrapped together. We created original stories with each of our characters, created new songs as well as included some time-tested classics. Nick Podcasts worked closely with audience development and researchers continually to include the best of mindful practices, yoga stretches, affirmations and wrapped it seamlessly into the storylines.  We tested the shows to confirm families resonated with the podcast and they loved it. Parents especially appreciated that the series gives caregivers the chance to enjoy bedtime with their children rather than focus on getting them into bed. Parents asked for different lengths of shows and video versions of the series. Nick Podcasts did just that! We created video podcasts as well so the series could reach the widest audience possible, knowing that YouTube is one of the most important places for kids and families to discover new podcasts. Utilizing top Nickelodeon IP helps boost the show while assisting with what families need. We leaned into Nickelodeon’s YouTube network that generates over 2 billion views and 20 billion minutes of watch time monthly across more than 50 channels in 15 + languages to showcase the series. Publishing across our ecosystem expands the reach of our podcast and meeting families where they are.

Results

Throughout the production and development of NICKELODEON’S GOODNIGHT BEDTIME STORIES,  we worked closely with our audience development, educational experts and families to make sure we were hitting the mark creatively, and giving families a special new series that could solve for their daily needs and to highlight our audiences desire to spend more time with their favorite Nick Jr. friends.  Our reviews are lovely and echo the research. “ My 5 year old and 3 year old love the Blaze and Paw Patrol Stories.” “It really, really fun and you can just listen and it helps you go to bed.” “We Love what’s here and hope more is coming.” We are very proud that Nickelodeon's Goodnight Bedtime Stories won the Gold Signal Award for Best Bedtime podcast, not just for kids but for everyone.
