Objective

Being a small business owner can be a roller coaster of emotions, as they juggle the demands of running a business and creating content. While designing social media posts may feel daunting, especially when it’s not their expertise, 71% of small/medium businesses rely on social media as their main form of marketing. That's where Adobe Express comes in, providing a simple yet powerful tool to help small business owners easily create the content they need. This video series we created showcases how Express can help solve this challenge.

Strategy

Hello, weary traveler.

Adobe Express is a new product that, when used correctly, really can feel like magic. Combining templates made by Adobe’s best designers with Adobe Firefly’s advanced AI generation capabilities, Express allows a user to wave their metaphorical wand and watch their vision come to life. The thing is, there are quite a few, ahem, spells to educate users on, from template selection to digital posting to print capabilities, automatic resizes, and beyond.

As we thought about the combination of technology and magic, we were reminded of ’90s-era fantasy RPGs. Using the mechanism of a visually enthralling video game with different “levels,” we built out our own unique world that combines elements of classic games with today’s gamer aesthetics and video trends. Onward to script writing!

Rather than tell this story piecemeal, we undertook the challenge of making a series that, when consumed in total, narratively explored the many steps of a single small biz marketing campaign but, if watched in parts, still showcased crucial features you could use on their own. By using the visual language of the game, we were able to weave that tale easily. Hark, a structural guideline!

The first video tells the story of how to use Express’s Logo Maker. That logo is then used in the second video, which tells how to make a print flyer and send an order to Adobe’s print partner. The third and final video shows our hero resizing the content made in level two to a social media post and printing in-app. My stars, how intuitive!

Working with an improv comedian, we added a humorous accent and delivery to straightforward how-tos. The POV aesthetic also allowed us to natively zoom in on detailed screen recordings. In the end, our small business owner has made all of the assets necessary to invite their community to a game night, and they emerge from their quest victorious! Huzzah.

 

Results

From an educational standpoint, we transformed a wealth of information into engaging, digestible content—garnering 33,000 video views across three videos. More importantly, audience enthusiasm spoke for itself, with comments like “This is fantastic!! Love it” and “This is great!! Love it” reinforcing that the content truly resonated.
