Teen Wolf x Roblox Werewolf Escape

Finalist in Immersive

Objectives

To attract an incremental audience in advance of Teen Wolf: The Movie, we brought Teen Wolf to Roblox with the help of Super League Gaming for Werewolf Escape. Players can join the fight to save Beacon Hills in an escape-the-killer style game, where fans can play as a human, wolf or iconic Teen Wolf villain. Every few weeks, we would update maps and characters, allowing fans to play in iconic locations in Beacon Hills and explore new villains. Throughout the game, digital billboards with movie tune-in flashed to remind fans of the upcoming premiere date and pushed “now streaming” messaging once the film released.

Strategy and Execution

Players can join the fight to save Beacon Hills in an escape-the-killer style game, where fans can play as a human, werewolf or iconic Teen Wolf villain. As a human, players would need to avoid the villains to escape and try to free any captured werewolves in their path. Werewolves must attack the villains to protect the town, and Villains must hunt and capture the werewolves. To add to the excitement, players collected and earned tokens throughout the game to unlock new character skins. Starting in late January, an NPC in the game lobby offered players a promotional code to use for a limited 30-day trial of Paramount+ ahead of the release of the film. Every few weeks, we would launch an update to the maps and characters, allowing fans to play in different memorable locations in Beacon Hills and explore the game as new villains. Throughout the game, digital billboards with movie tune-in flashed to remind fans of the upcoming premiere date and pushed “now streaming” messaging once the film released.

Results

Since the game’s first launch date, we’ve seen over 857K visits to the experience on Roblox and 4.8K favorites on the server. The Roblox experience is designed to connect users from all over the globe, and our goal was to appeal to a younger demographic that may not be as familiar with the Teen Wolf franchise. We even launched a Werewolf Escape Discord Channel to allow fans to chat about their gaming experience and really connect with each other throughout play time. The Discord gained a fast 10K members, allowing our fans to really dive into the world of Beacon Hills together. Through social promotion of the game and Roblox banners within the experience, we spread the word far and wide and had a successful two-month flight of new characters and updated maps to gain a new following for the franchise.
