The Daily Show wanted to highlight the right-wing media hysteria and conspiratorial dialogue surrounding the Trump Indictment in a social-first, engaging way. We also wanted to comment on how Trump was using his indictment as an opportunity to galvanize his base and raise money.
We leveraged the TDS digital format Foxsplains, an ongoing series with correspondent Desi Lydic, to explain Trump’s indictment in the character of a conservative who’s watched too much Fox News and falls into a hole of conspiracy theories. The video was programmed across key social channels including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram and TikTok, and optimized to drive views and engagement on each platform.
