The Bald & the Beautiful was launched as a podcast where two drag performers could explore the expanisve world of beauty and it's evolving standards through their unique form of comedy. Hosts Trixie and Katya set out to create a lighthearted and digestable format that allows for the discussion of how those standards affect various communities around the world.
The Bald and The Beautiful launched in 2020 during the height of the pandemic. Because of this, the podcast began as a remote-only show, typically recorded on Riverside.fm or Zoom. This set-up limited what we could do creatively, but it gave the show time and room to grow and mature. When we were able to record in-studio again, it became not just a podcast but a celebration of being able to gather together in a vaccinated, safe-manner and interact with humanity again! Listernes stuck around from the beginning to watch the podcast evolve into a safe space for humor and identity exploration, even while Trixie and Katya have been on a whirlwind 9-month-long 2022 world tour, recording from hotel rooms and green rooms across the globe.
