MALKA Media live streamed a 1 night, 3 venue Yungblud performance at three Sunset Strip venues via Amazon Music this past summer (9/8/22) on the brand's Twitch channel, which reached a global audience. The British rocker began his one-night "Occupy the Strip" tour at The Viper Room, then headed to Whiskey-A-Go-Go, and finished the night at The Roxy - live with coverage from green room, to stage, to the streets, to the next green room and the next stage - giving fans a one-of-a-kind live experience. Yungblud performed a unique 30 minute set at each venue.
Over 40 crew members, including full production crews were at each of the (3) venues, and (2) Field Teams following Yungblud through the streets and in and out of the green rooms. Equipment used include: (18) Sony FX9 Cameras, (6) Specialty Lens Filters used strategically for specific songs in the setlist to create a custom look, (3) Blackmagic ATEM Switchers, (1) at each Venue, (6) Primary Live U Transmission Units on the ground in LA, connecting back to our TD in Jersey City Managing all the signals. Custom comms workflow, combining Hollyland Wireless Units from each venue with a Wireless Unity workflow were used for communication between multiple venues, and for key team members to communicate with home base in the Jersey City Studio, as well as the Director to have the ability to talk to everyone while moving from venue to venue. Each venue could talkback with other venues, and with the TD in Jersey City. Overall, the workflow was built with contingency at each point. Our director bounced from venue to venue, following Yungblud, and cut a clean PGM output, sent via Live U back to our HQ in our Jersey City Studio where one of our TD’s was managing all signals based off the Broadcast ROS, adding an overlay branded for the event, and encoding the Full PGM to Platform. Projector Screens aired the live performance in each venue so fans could see each unique set throughout the night. We were on-boarded and began pre production with 5 weeks to the event.
We livestreamed to an average of 20k concurrent viewers on the Amazon Music Twitch page. This totaled over 700k total views, without a VOD available on platform. All 3 venues sold out, plus hundreds of fans showed up and hangout in the streets who couldn’t get tickets inside. The show was picked up by Billboard and Variety, among other media outlets. Yungblud’s new album went #1 in Australia while we were live on the air. Fans loved it - the chat was going crazy the whole time, especially when Yungblud would pick up a phone in-between sets and start reading comments and talking about the setlist. Fans even screen recorded and redistributed the video, with some of these unofficial re-posts even having thousands of views and comments: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_WslRpEMujQ. Fans in the alternate venues were able to watch the performances live via a closed-circuit projected stream in their respective venues
