Perfectly Queer®, the vodcast for LGBTQ+ youth by the It Gets Better Project, takes viewers on a journey through LGBTQ+ news, art, with engaging interviews and special guests. The vodcast was created to further connect to the organization's primary audience: 13 - 18 year old queer, trans, and questioning youth.
It Gets Better Project is the nonprofit that connects LGBTQ+ youth across the world through storytelling, education, and building a global community. Over the past 10 years, more than 70,000 people have shared their stories of how #itgetsbetter
The biweekly vodcast presented live on Twitch, made possible with support from the Humble Bundle community, used a comprehensive digital strategy across multiple platforms. While the live episodes premiered on Twitch, still images and cutdown video treatments were used to promote the show on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat. Full episodes are also posted on YouTube with closed captioning.
For the paid media strategy, the goal was to drive awareness and traffic to the Perfectly Queer website through our primary audience (13 - 18) and secondary audience (18 - 30). Instagram Stories and Twitter were our top-performing platforms where ads garnered 6,500,000+ and 1,400,000+ impressions, respectively.
Premiering in June 2022, Perfectly Queer has garnered over 2800+ unique viewers with 5,000+ live views and 55,000+ minutes watched. On Youtube, vodcast episodes have been over 3900+ times with 355,000+ impressions and 8200+ minutes watched. Special guests have included Calle y Poché, mxmtoon, Zolita, and castmembers of the Queer as Folk reboot.
