On Friday, June 24, 2022, the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade effectively silencing the fundamental rights of millions of women. In response, TYT promoted existing content that resonated strongly with millions of people featuring The Young Turks host and executive producer, Ana Kasparian. Her words became the battle cry for millions of women who felt the impact of the Supreme Court’s decision, “I don’t care what the Bible says - You do not get to dictate the way that I get to live my life based on your religion.”
The purpose of promoting this content was to encourage people to be bold, speak out, and amplify voices.
As Ana Kasparian said, “They pretend to care for the unborn children’s lives, when there are children, who are on their way here to the US out of fear for their lives - and they support a president who believes in shooting them if they throw rocks - They don’t care about life, They pretend like they do, and then use it as an excuse to control the lives of women in this country.”
Our response was: We care. We’re here. We will fight with you.
Millions of viewers were reached when we posted Ana Kasparian’s powerful commentary on reproductive rights. We utilized social media to drive awareness and empower viewers to make their voices heard. Additionally, we sent an email to hundreds of thousands of subscribers encouraging them to call their representatives, donate to Planned Parenthood, and continue to amplify the viral clip. This strategy was for awareness building and organizing people to make their voices heard in response to the decision.
It was clear that Ana represented a strong voice fighting for millions of women who felt silenced by the Supreme Court’s decision. This video was a reminder that those women had a fighter in their corner.
