United Heritage opened its doors in 1957 as Military Federal Credit Union, offering military personnel savings and loan services. In 1969, our name changed to Bergstrom Federal Credit Union and we expanded our service offerings and increased our overall membership base. By 1993, the Credit Union was given the opportunity to expand our membership base to include hospitals and hospital affiliates, along with select employer groups, allowing us to grow into United Heritage Federal Credit Union. Changing from a federal charter to a state charter in 1997, we’re now open to the Central Texas, Austin and Tyler communities, enabling us to help more people than ever. Since opening our doors, we’ve worked hard to better service our communities, establishing a foundation of stability and security. As a UHCU member, you’ll benefit from the lower rates and higher yields we’re able to offer as a not-for-profit financial cooperative without losing the products and services you’d expect from a big bank. Committed to your success, we’re ready to be your financial partner.
The goal behind the UHCU website redesign was to improve user experience to increase our visitor engagement. Utilizing our data, we were able to determine the most popular pages, products and services on our site. From there we drafted and implemented our updates, the most prominent to our home page, which provides that popular information readily to site visitors. The redesign focused on making relevant information easier to find, including implementing new notification features on our site that direct visitors to trending topics and updates on our products and services.
These updates have been highly successful, with decreased inquiries to our chatbot and call center to locate information on our website. Additionally, we have observed increased logins to online banking via the website and higher interactions with content that is featured on our home page and in our notification system.
