Fraud is a billion dollar a year industry that continues to grow. AARP is on the forefront of fighting fraud. As a form of prevention, part of AARP's mission is to educate people of all ages on new and ongoing forms of fraud. As a part of this initiative, "The Perfect Scam" podcast employs captivating interviews told in a true crime format to protect the public and increase awareness about fraud.

The podcast also helped increase traffic to AARP’s Fraud Watch Network Hepline (a free resource for AARP members and nonmembers alike, that provides callers with information on how to protect themselves and their families from fraud).
