For 17 seasons, "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" has been a reliable retreat for viewers all over the world to encounter heartwarming stories, comedic moments, and relatable guests that can stay with you forever. Ellen’s successful television franchise extends into the digital space with Ellen Digital Network, and ellentube serves as a homebase for that same content viewers enjoy and seek the other 23 hours of the day.

Like the on-air show, the goal of ellentube is to make people laugh, touch people’s hearts, and see a piece of themselves in every moment that we share. At its core, ellentube is focused on telling stories that are funny, kind, and authentic - all values that are reflected in the content seen across the app.

Whether users are dedicated viewers of the show or happen to come across the videos while scrolling through their phones, ellentube aims to not only be a dependable digital source of feel-good content, but a platform where people feel encouraged to share their own as well.

Strategy and Execution

The spirit of the ELLEN brand is present from the moment you open the ellentube app. On any given day, you will see celebrity interviews, feel-good series, and find ways you can do good for others. While is the hub for the segments seen on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show," the app is also home to original series that carry out the same core values. 

Emmy-nominated series "Momsplaining" stars Kristen Bell, who reveals how hilariously hard motherhood can be while also offering moms a few tips on the perils of parenting. “Fearless” is hosted by model and body positive activist Ashley Graham, who helps people struggling with their own confidence issues to become unapologetically fearless. Kalen Allen was discovered by Ellen Show producers because of his viral “Kalen Reacts” videos, and was invited to be a guest on the show. "OMKalen," his colorful and unfiltered commentary series, is now served up to his fans every Saturday.

Another defining component of ellentube is the ability for viewers to go beyond watching videos and give them the opportunity to be part of the ELLEN community. User generated content is the backbone of ellentube, as it allows users to easily upload content and share what is important to them. While hundreds of videos are shared on ellentube everyday, fans are also able to submit to specific contests and challenges that can get them even closer to Ellen.

Most recently, the Ellen’s Starbucks® Rewards Surprise challenge encouraged viewers to upload a video of themselves purchasing coffee for strangers or friends at their local Starbucks®. Thousands submitted, and a lucky few were able to see their own content on-air, and were even invited to Ellen’s special birthday episode to be VIPs and sit in the Starbucks® Rewards Skybox.

Through all this, we leverage our ellentube social media accounts on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook to encourage users to engage with the content and join the conversation. These platforms allow fans to not only engage with Ellen and our team, but with other fans all over the world. Whether it be moms doling out their own parenting tips on Instagram or Kalen fans sharing a laugh about the latest episode on Twitter, our social media platforms connect everyone in a way that feels as personal as talking about a video with a friend. 

By providing multiple platforms for fans to feel connected to Ellen wherever they go, the ellentube team enables users to do more than watch what happens; we give them a place to become an important part of what happens.


"The Ellen DeGeneres Show" is produced in a way that easily lends itself to online viewing and sharing, and ellentube is the digital destination for her brand’s authentic content. Since Season 17 began in September 2019, there have been over 22.5 million views on ellentube, and the average monthly unique visitors on the site and app is over 5.7 million. The ellentube app continues to grow, with nearly 400,000 downloads since the beginning of the season, and a total of 2.5 million downloads in its lifetime. 

Ellentube’s strategy to extend the fan community online is made visible in her social media following, with her overall brand having a total of 288M+ followers/visitors. For the ellentube social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, there are a total of 3.6M followers! The ellentube Facebook account reaches the most followers, with the monthly average at 3M since September 2019.

With billions of sharable views from more than 460 countries around the globe, it's clear ellentube immerses fans in the ELLEN world and is adept at enticing them to come back for more.
