Tom Hanks has been America’s leading man and sweetheart for decades. Best known for his roles in Philadelphia and Forrest Gump, among many others, Hanks has won two Golden Globes, two Academy Awards, one Screen Actors’ Guild Award, and a People’s Choice Award. He’s well known for his writing and directing credits and owns the production company Playtone Entertainment, partly responsible for HBO’s hit miniseries Olive Kitteridge. This year he’s also become a good samaritan through his Twitter account, having used the social tool and his massive following to return a lost student ID to a young New York City woman.
