Gretchen Reynolds has been writing about health and fitness for more than a decade, beginning with a stint as a health and fitness reporter for Runner’s World and Bicycling magazines. After several years covering politics and crime for Chicago magazine, she began editing and writing about adventure, eco-politics and fitness for Outside magazine. She shared a National Magazine Award for personal service for a package of stories that appeared in National Geographic Adventure magazine. She is now at work on a book about the frontiers of human fitness. She’s also a frequent contributor to O: The Oprah Magazine and Women's Health. Her “Phys Ed" column originated in the New York Times sports magazine, Play, and now appears online weekly in the Well blog and in print monthly in the New York Times Magazine.
