About Elyse Fox

While many Instagram wellness accounts focus on physical health, very few deal with mental health. Filmmaker Elyse Fox changed that by launching the @sadgirlsclub Instagram account in 2017. As someone who has dealt with depression—and documented those struggles in her film Convos w. Friends—Elyse recognized the need for people who help each other in times of need. A community both online and IRL, Sad Girls Club holds events worldwide to bring outreach and positivity to girls with mental health issues, and shares resources and inspirations with its 22K+ Instagram followers. Elyse’s own account, where she posts about the ups and downs of life in Brooklyn, has over 28K fans who give her the courage to continue breaking down the stigma surrounding mental health.
