Jason Chung is an educator and attorney specializing in the intersection of gaming, esports, and entertainment business. He currently leads the Esports and Gaming Initiative at NYU’s Tisch Institute for Global Sport. With a diverse international background in law, business, and public policy, Jason’s interdisciplinary approach highlights the history, growth, and future of gaming and esports. At Zuber Lawler LLP, he heads the esports practice group and co-hosts the metaverse videocast “What the Meta!” for Virtual Times. Previously, Jason served as the founding Executive Director of Esports at the University of New Haven, creating innovative programs at the Pompea College of Business. He also launched the first courses on esports business as a visiting clinical assistant professor at NYU. His work in the sector extends to his role as a senior researcher for the NYU Sports and Society program, where he studied the intersections of sports, health, and technology. Jason’s legal career includes positions in Hong Kong’s financial sector and various public roles in Canada. He writes extensively on the convergence of sports, technology, and health, with his work featured in the New York Times, NPR, Wired, and numerous academic journals. He has also presented on data privacy for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and served as the Law & Technology editor for The Health Care Blog.
