The Facebook Live video stream at the Summer Television Critics Association event was designed to allow fans to watch and interact with FX stars in a more spontaneous and engaged setting. The goal was to put a spotlight on our diverse programming and talent and allow our fans the opportunity to participate in live interaction with some of their favorite cast members.
With a relaxed, branded space at the TCA event, FX talent was put in an environment that resulted in a more dynamic interview. The setup was designed to allow talent to play games that challenged how well cast mates knew each other (the Newlywed Game) and that revealed interesting facts about themselves (Never Have I Ever). Fans were also invited to ask questions on Facebook during the sessions, and talent answered them live. The FX marketing team promoted the event across various social media platforms to reach a wide audience and ensure the fans had ample opportunity to get their questions ready and tune into the Facebook Live.
Talent from Atlanta, Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll, The Americans, Better Things, You're the Worst and The Strain all participated in the live stream event. FX's Facebook Live activation resulted in over 2.5 million video views and over 350,000 content engagements. Facebook pages for You're the Worst, Atlanta, The Americans, The Strain, Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll and Better Things all saw spikes in users and engagements post livestream.
