iHeartRadio is a service for music lovers run by music lovers. We connect fans with their favorite artists like no other music platform or company. To celebrate the holiday season, iHeartRadio wanted to create a unique contesting experience for fans using up-and-coming mobile company Smule's new Sing! app – which allows fans to "duet" with an artist – for a chance to meet them on tour.
By pairing the incredible technology of Smule's Sing! app with a strong artist relationship, iHeartRadio created a unique experience for fans. iHeartRadio called on country mega-star LeAnn Rimes to sing a holiday song via Smule for a one-of-a kind karaoke experience where fans could sing "Holly Jolly Christmas" and "Frosty The Snowman" side-by-side with LeAnn. The fans who shared their duet on Twitter using #iHeartContest and #TodayIsChristmas were entered for a chance to meet LeAnn on tour. The contest was featured across all of iHeartRadio's digital touchpoints: Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, as well as all of iHeartRadio's country radio station websites and social platforms. iHeartRadio worked with LeAnn to view all submissions and ultimately select one winner on Twitter to meet LeAnn at her tour stop in Florida.
The iHeartRadio integration drove over 60,000 fans to perform the song in the Smule Sing! app and over 30,000 participants saved their rendition with LeAnn. The promotion also piqued fans' interest to check out Smule's other app, Magic Piano. This produced over 470,000 piano plays of the song that included LeAnn's voice. On Twitter, the contest generated 17.7 million impressions and the winner got a special meet and greet with LeAnn at her tour stop in Florida.
