Kaka

Finalist in Brazil

About Kaka

Soccer star Ricardo Izecson dos Santos Leite got his nickname Kaká from the way his younger brother pronounced his name as a child. Born in Brazil on April 22, 1982, Kaká moved to São Paulo as a child. At age eight, Kaka started playing for Sao Paulo FC and made his professional debut in January 2001. He played in the Under-20 World Cup. In his first professional tournament, he scored two goals in the final to give his team São Paulo FC the Rio-São Paulo tournament. Kaká played in Sao Paulo until August 2003, when he moved to AC Milan of Italy. The midfielder played at Milan for six seasons. In his first season, the team became Italian champion and Kaká was named the best player of the season. Kaká arrived at Real Madrid in 2009. In that same season an unfortunate injury set him back several months. He has since fully recovered. Since age 19, Kaká has also played and defended his country. He made his debut for Brazil in a game against Bolivia in 2002. That same year, he was part of the team that won the fifth World Cup in Japan and Korea. Since then he has been a regular on the national squad, again playing the World Cup in 2006 and 2010.
