As Waymo introduces a new product category, it is essential to convey trust and reliability on social without sacrificing the sense of magic that defines the experience.The challenge: make autonomy feel personal and unmistakably Waymo with a narrative wrapper that roots itself in seasonality.
Strategy
The campaign was built around the strategic umbrella “True autonomy is always a treat.” This framing allowed Waymo to lean into seasonal joy while reinforcing a core product-benefit: consistency and reliability are what make autonomy truly magical.
Rather than over-explaining what sets Waymo’s service apart, we focused on showing the experience. With a rider-only vehicle, every trip is customized around the rider’s unique preferences – they choose the music unique, temperature,seat.. Customization isn’t a novelty; it’s the trust-building detail that turns a ride into the preferred way to get from place to place.
Execution
To bring this idea to life, we imagined the ultimate stress test for transportation reliability: Santa Claus on Christmas Eve.
Using social-first editing, playful perspective shifts, and cultural humor, the video shows Santa customizing his Waymo ride, dialing in his preferences as he sleighs the most demanding delivery route of the year. Sorry Rudolph, but when it comes to delivering presents in a single night, consistent and reliable wins the race.
