Percy Jackson is a modern teen submerged into a mythological world, and we wanted to mirror that experience for our fans online with recognizable, social-native formats that introduce the fantasy elements of the story. This guiding philosophy is best displayed in The Wedding Dress - a reality television-inspired behind-the-scenes social video that blends the in-universe humor of the show and the cast’s natural charm and authenticity into a highly shareable moment that felt participatory rather than promotional.
A major plot point in The Sea of Monsters is Grover’s capture on the island of Polyphemus - the cyclops of Odyssey fame. He buys time for his friends to rescue him by disguising himself as a potential bride for the monster in a wedding dress and veil. Fans couldn’t wait for his bridal reveal in Season 2, and we prepared for the big moment by capturing mockumentary-style “confessional” videos with Aryan Simhadri (Grover), Daniel Diemer (Tyson), and Walker Scobell (Percy) to augment the dress-fitting footage we captured with our BTS video crew. In completely improvisational interviews, Aryan plays the blushing bride, Daniel the reticent bridesmaid, and Walker the jilted lover. We even layered in a playful VO from Leah Sava Jeffries (Annabeth) to pull the mockumentary theme together.
We teased the full video in-room in Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con with a “To be continued…” card before the dress reveal to raucous laughter but posted the full video on our @percyseries social accounts later in the campaign. With a total of 1.2M Likes and 7M Views across Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube (as of February 18, 2026), you could say fans said yes to the dress.
