EDITION Hotels x El Silencio Collaboration

Objective

EDITION x El Silencio was designed to reassert EDITION as a cultural leader by reclaiming Ibiza’s creative identity—an island once defined by underground artistry but increasingly commercialized by mass tourism. The objective was to create a brand-led cultural moment that felt as impactful as an EDITION hotel opening: art-directed, editorial, provocative, and rooted in authenticity rather than the glossy, formulaic look that dominates luxury hospitality.

The strategic idea was to build a two-week residency that blurred the lines between hotel, nightclub, and creative studio—placing EDITION at the center of Ibiza’s artistic revival. By partnering with El Silencio, one of the island’s most iconic cultural institutions, EDITION could show up as an active participant in the local island energy. 

The goals were to:

Demonstrate a new model of cultural collaboration, positioning EDITION not just as a luxury hotel brand, but as a cultural platform shaping modern hospitality.

Strategy

The EDITION x El Silencio partnership was executed through a multi-layered strategy designed to merge modern luxury with Ibiza’s creative past, bringing cultural credibility and disruptive storytelling to the forefront.

1. A Distinct Visual Identity for Ibiza

We developed a custom creative direction that departed from EDITION’s streamlined evergreen aesthetic. Custom logo treatments, textured graphics, and design elements paid homage to Ibiza’s counterculture while maintaining EDITION’s distinctive sophistication. This established a visual identity that felt instantly recognizable across the entire campaign. 

2. Local Creator Integration for Authenticity

To ensure the story reflected the real rhythm of Ibiza, we partnered with local creators who understood the island’s culture intuitively. Their content captured spontaneity: oceanside afternoons, analog nights, and the intimate energy of the residency. This real-world perspective grounded the partnership in authenticity and kept EDITION meaningfully connected to place.

3. Cross-Functional Alignment & Unified Storytelling

Brand, PR, and Culture & Entertainment teams operated as a single unit. Influencer management, media outreach, and creative direction were coordinated to ensure every asset across owned, earned, and paid laddered up to one cohesive narrative: EDITION as a cultural participant, not a passive brand.

4. Cultural Legacy Capture by Derek Ridgers

To connect Ibiza’s iconic past with its present moment, we collaborated with legendary nightlife photographer Derek Ridgers. His film-based documentation added depth, texture, and credibility, bridging nostalgia with modern cultural expression. His work became a central pillar of the campaign, featured in Dazed Magazine and displayed onsite in a dedicated print installation.

5. Real-Time Content Execution

A nimble team captured and published content across Reels, carousels, and static imagery within 24 hours. This speed allowed EDITION to dominate real-time cultural storytelling, extending visibility beyond the physical residency and keeping momentum at its peak.

6. A Cultural Takeover of Ibiza’s Creative Circuit

Over two weeks, EDITION and El Silencio hosted a series of events that brought together global tastemakers, industry leaders, and cultural icons. High-profile guests, including Justine Skye and Lourdes Leon, hosted intimate nights that extended the residency organically across social channels.

Challenges & Innovation

The core challenge was redefining how a luxury brand can show up in a destination oversaturated with hospitality content. Innovation came from taking creative risks: abandoning overproduced visuals, leaning into nightlife-driven analog aesthetics, and elevating local voices. By designing a partnership that lived outside the hotel walls, EDITION demonstrated a new blueprint for culturally embedded storytelling.

Results

The EDITION x El Silencio residency delivered a breakout cultural moment for the brand, driving traction across social, media, talent, and global tastemaker circles.

Across owned channels, the campaign generated 1M+ impressions with an 11.57% engagement rate, signaling exceptionally strong resonance for a design-led, editorial campaign. Real-time storytelling and rapid 24-hour publishing helped maintain momentum throughout the residency, reinforcing EDITION’s credibility in cultural conversation.

Earned channels amplified the moment significantly, generating 1.6M+ earned impressions, 7.4M+ potential reach, and 100+ earned posts. Local creators, visiting tastemakers, and global cultural figures shared the experience organically, extending awareness far beyond Ibiza.

Cultural credibility was a defining outcome. Photography by Derek Ridgers became a centerpiece of performance, featured in Dazed Magazine, Interview Magazine, Hypebeast, and V Magazine, positioning EDITION within fashion, nightlife, and art communities.

The residency drew significant talent attention. Guests, including Justine Skye and Lourdes Leon, hosted exclusive nights, increasing cultural traction and prompting the extension of programming due to heightened demand.

Finally, the content library produced over 700+ images and 40+ videos, which continues to fuel EDITION’s global marketing, PR, and evergreen channels, making this activation not just a moment in time but a long-term creative asset.

The collaboration solidified EDITION as a brand leading culture from within—bold, art-driven, and deeply connected to the creative communities shaping modern luxury.
