Paramount+’s “Star Trek: Prodigy” gives a family-friendly look at the franchise’s adventures to boldly go where no one has gone before. The spacefaring animated television series follows a crew of young aliens in the distant Delta Quadrant. The crew happens across the abandoned U.S.S. Protostar and takes control of the ship, hoping to eventually reach the Alpha Quadrant, the home of Earth and Starfleet. Along the way, they will have to learn how to work together as a cohesive team quickly. The exciting new series features the voice talents of “Star Trek: Voyager” star Kate Mulgrew, Brett Grey, Ella Purnell, and Jason Mantzoukas.
To build excitement around the show’s second season and drive social media engagement, Paramount+ set out to provide fans with new ways to engage with “Prodigy” and learn about its world and people through social media.
Dedicated “Star Trek” fans have proven to be ravenous when it comes to additional content that expands on the characters and universe. To give fans even more “Star Trek: Prodigy,” Paramount+ created the “Star Trek Logs” Instagram account, which features weekly in-character personal logs recorded by Kate Mulgrew as Vice Admiral Janeway and written by “Star Trek: Prodigy” Co-Executive Producer Aaron Waltke.
The “Star Trek Logs” Instagram account was a success in drawing the attention of more than 40,000 dedicated followers who have enjoyed engaging with the account. These Janeway logs performed 5X above the previously established benchmark for past logs. The Instagram account also received blog press from sites such as Movie Web and Bleeding Cool, and has been mentioned in a number of posts on the “Star Trek” subreddit forum.
