In February 2026, in honor of MONOPOLY GO!’s Pets Season, the game launched the global “Play with Purpose” community challenge, combining fun gameplay with meaningful support for animal welfare organizations, including the ASPCA and RSPCA. The shared goal of the collaboration was to turn everyday gameplay into a lasting act of support for animals in need.
The initiative connected the game’s core action of passing GO to a collective milestone: when players passed GO more than 5 million times, they unlocked a donation to the ASPCA and RSPCA, helping fund its work in recovery, rehabilitation and enrichment for animals in need.
The goal was to give players an accessible and engaging way to make a real-world impact while deepening their connection to Pets Season, raising awareness of animals recovering from mistreatment and reinforcing MONOPOLY GO!’s commitment to its global community. Together, the Scopely, ASPCA and RSPCA teams demonstrated how MONOPOLY GO!’s passionate player community can come together to create tangible impact beyond the game.
Scopely set out to bring the community together through a shared love of animals. However, one challenge was finding a way to motivate MONOPOLY GO!’s community beyond the collective passion for animal welfare. To personalize the experience, Scopely first hosted a contest for players to submit their pets’ photos for a chance to be featured in-game. 12,000 pet submissions later, nine lucky winners had their pets featured in-game and transformed into permanent sticker designs.
Furthermore, the integration invited players to celebrate furry, feathery and scaly friends through a series of new pet characters, themed events, customizable Style Tokens, sticker albums and mini-games. The event was intentionally lighthearted and fun, highlighting the value of shared experience, community and play in well-being.
In addition to raising awareness of animals in need, Scopely wanted a more tangible result that would further benefit the cause. Therefore, the team launched the “Play with Purpose” global community challenge, which turned “passing GO” into a real-world act of support for animal welfare organizations. Between February 4 and March 4, players were challenged to collectively pass GO more than 5 million times to unlock an additional donation to ASPCA and RSPCA. All players who participated were given a custom cat-themed Shield as a token of their contribution to animal welfare charities.
Scopely aimed to connect humans and animals through play as it is an essential part of both of our lives. For shelter animals, play is imperative for physical and mental health, making it a core part of the rehabilitation process. At Scopely, we strive to make every player’s action feel purposeful. Each roll contributed to the greater shared purpose of helping ASPCA and RSPCA do what they do best: save, transform and protect animals.
Once MONOPOLY GO! players saw the campaign’s challenge, they completely blew it out of the water. By February 20, players had surpassed the original goal of 5 million GO tile passes, hitting 2 billion in just over two weeks. With that milestone, the community rapidly unlocked additional charitable support for both the ASPCA and the RSPCA.
Besides hitting the goal of passing GO 5 million times, many players showed their support in our dedicated community Discord by sharing photos of their pets, spreading information about the challenge and celebrating their milestone wins.
Scopely’s efforts to bring the community together culminated in increased support for the ASPCA and RSPCA’s critical programs, but beyond the campaign-specific goals, players saw how gaming could impact the world, furthering Scopely’s mission to inspire meaningful play.
Scopely remains dedicated to enacting change through games and is proud to achieve its goals with the support of its incredibly vibrant player base.
