Seeing Phish for New Year’s Eve at Madison Square Garden is always a special event for fans, but in summer 2017 the jam band cooked up something even sweeter. Phish made MSG their home for 13 consecutive nights during their “Baker’s Dozen” residency—a record sure to go down in “Phishstory.” Phishheads were treated to free donuts as they entered, with imaginative setlists inspired by each night’s flavor—like “Boston Cream” night, with its mashup of Boston and Cream songs. The band’s Instagram whetted the appetites of 140K+ followers, teasing shots of each night’s doughy delicacy and inspiring speculation across social media. Fans flocked to social media to rave after each show, with the NYC Mayor’s office joining in to tweet a proclamation that August 6th was officially “Phish Day.”
