Special Project

Dave Campbell's Texas Football Team Mom Appreciation Award presented by ¡Yo Quiero!

Entered in Corporate-Community

Objective

The Team Mom Appreciation Award, presented by ¡Yo Quiero!, set out to honor eleven team moms during the 2023 Texas high school football season who made a positive impact on their community.

Team moms play a critical, often underappreciated role in supporting student-athletes, coaches, and the community within high school sports programs. This award aims to recognize them for their contributions. These mothers often volunteer their time and effort to ensure the smooth operation of team events, coordinate logistics, and provide essential support to players and all those involved in high school sports.

The award was set out to achieve the goals of:

  1. Community Outreach: Highlighting how these mothers go above and beyond to foster a sense of community support and spirit within the team environment.
  2. Inspiration: To inspire others in the community to recognize and appreciate the selfless contributions of team moms and encourage more community involvement and volunteerism.
  3. Celebration: Creating a space to publicly honor and celebrate the efforts of these unsung heroes who often work behind the scenes.
  4. Recognition: To acknowledge the hard work, dedication, and positive impact that team moms have on their communities and the football teams while promoting ¡Yo Quiero! brand recognition.

By honoring team moms, ¡Yo Quiero! aims to shine a spotlight on these individuals who exemplify dedication, selflessness, and community spirit. This recognition not only celebrates the honorees but also raises awareness about the role that team moms play in the overall success and positive experience of high school athletes and community.

Strategy

The Barber Shop worked closely with ¡Yo Quiero! as well as Dave Campbell’s Texas Football Team. We collaborated with each team to establish a creative vision as well as align our goals of community contribution and brand promotion.

Our plan of action included:

Award Recognition & School Donation: Each Team Mom Appreciation Award winner received a commemorative award and a $500 donation to their school on behalf of ¡Yo Quiero!

¡Yo Quiero! Spotlight & On-Field Presentations: ¡Yo Quiero! representatives were spotlighted for their support of the Team Mom Appreciation Award on the field as they presented each winner with their award.

On-Site Activation: ¡Yo Quiero! had the opportunity to set up an activation space at each game to interact with the community during the games.

Product Donation: ¡Yo Quiero! donated products to schools to be used during lunch periods, concession stands, and practices.

Live Reads: Included live reads and video board graphics pertaining to ¡Yo Quiero! and the award.

Inviting Team Moms & Players: Dave Campbell’s Texas Football worked with the targeted high school to invite players and their moms to attend the celebration

Event Promotion: Events were spotlighted across Dave Campbell’s Texas Football social channels.

Our biggest feature of this campaign was our unique kick-off event. Dave Campbell’s Texas Football helped to coordinate a special event with a local high school on National Guacamole Day as a part of the Team Mom Celebration. This allowed for recognition of both the holiday as well as this initiative to celebrate team moms during the 2023 football season. National Guacamole Day presented a fun way to bring brand awareness to ¡Yo Quiero! while providing an exciting start to football season.

This project presented some unique challenges as there were many moving parts within each event. Our team has experience working with municipalities as well as schools, so we were able to spearhead this collaboration between community and corporation. Finding the correct communication outlets, coordination of the events, and outreach marketing all led to our team becoming more knowledgeable on the intricacies of Texas high school football and the wonderful people who support it.

Results

We aimed to, above all else, honor Team Moms for their selfless contributions and efforts while promoting the ¡Yo Quiero! brand. This goal was exceeded as we were able to recognize the efforts of eleven moms across the DFW metroplex for their significant contributions to Texas high school football teams. Positive feedback from school officials, increased community engagement, and school participation in our initiatives indicated that we were meeting our objectives effectively.

Our efforts had lasting effects beyond immediate results. Since this initiative, we have sustained community partnerships, established brand recognition and support in the community, and contributed to the ongoing legacy of support for team moms.

Through strategic planning, execution, and evaluation, we not only met but often exceeded our targets, leaving a positive and enduring mark on our community and stakeholders.
