Special Project

Portrait of a Queen: Face of Bosco

Entered in Documentary Short, Influencer, Creator & Celebrity, Storytelling

Objective

Our objective was to capture Bosco’s real-life Facial Feminization Surgery journey as naturally as possible. While filming at Bosco’s home in Seattle, our agile crew acted as flies on the walls with cameras. To achieve our goal of providing as much information as possible, we captured footage of the surgery itself, bringing a reality to the episode that most people have never seen before. The cherry on top of this powerful project is the crowning reveal of Bosco’s face after the surgery.

Strategy

Our strategy with "Face of Bosco" was to celebrate Bosco's individuality while bridging the information gap when it comes to the general public’s awareness of transgender healthcare. With fans already knowing Bosco for her iconic runway looks and performances on season 14 of RuPaul’s Drag Race, we aimed to give an unfiltered and authentic look into Bosco’s life after Drag Race, specifically her journey with transitioning and her Facial Feminization Surgery. By showcasing Bosco’s personal story and Facial Feminization Surgery, viewers are informed and educated on the transgender journey through the lens of a fan-favorite queen’s personal experience.

Results

“Face of Bosco” has allowed for countless people to learn about Facial Feminization Surgery, gaining 216k views and 3.5M impressions. Whether we opened someone’s eyes to the possibility of such a change or provided another with practical steps to achieve it, we're so proud of this episode's impact.
