During the holiday season, there is a dire need in our hyper-local community to ensure families in need have gifts for children. Foxwoods partnered with The United Way of Southeastern CT, Tommy Toy Fund, and Norwich Bulletin to fulfill the need. Donations requested were unwrapped toys for children of all ages, toiletries, coats/hats/gloves, and money.
Foxwoods used our Bus Marketing connections to have a fleet bus donated for the cause. We gave a call-to-action to our employees and patrons to help us Stuff The Bus with presents for less fortunate families in our immediate community. We utilized social media, guerilla marketing and on-site advertising to raise awareness and donations. After the event was over, we continued the partnership with United Way of Southeastern CT and have been auctioning off donated items on eBay. 100% of the proceeds benefit United Way of Southeastern CT. We advertise this charity auction via Twitter.
A coach bus was packed with toys that were distributed to 6,000 children in 2 days. Leftover toys were then sent to New Haven to supplement another toy drive where toys were stolen. We raised $9,000 in cash and used celebrity visibility via Criss Angel & Donny Osmond to drive awareness and provide access to families in need of toys during the holidays.
