Henrietta Said: A Nut Soap Opera

Entered in Episodic

Objective

Our primary objective was to increase brand awareness for Henrietta Said. We saw an opportunity to build on the brand's existing social media presence by reaching new audiences, encouraging more profile visits, and growing an engaged community of followers. We wanted to give people a reason to actively seek out the brand's content rather than simply scrolling past it.

That's where Henrietta Said: A Nut Soap Opera came in.

Instead of creating another series of standalone ads, we wanted to give audiences something to follow. By releasing episodes as an ongoing storyline, our goal was to encourage viewers to visit the profile, scroll through the feed to find previous episodes, and come back to see what happened next.

The idea was simple: What if people actually wanted to watch your advertising?

By getting audiences invested in the characters and their stories, we could introduce them to the brand in a way that felt entertaining rather than promotional. And as viewers searched for episodes, they'd naturally encounter the rest of Henrietta Said's content along the way.

Ultimately, we wanted to turn passive viewers into active visitors, grow the brand's following, and make Henrietta Said a name people would remember.

Strategy

One of the biggest opportunities we saw with Henrietta Said was already sitting right on the packaging: four larger-than-life peanut characters, each with their own personality. We decided to bring those characters to life through a scripted social media series, turning the brand's existing packaging into the cast of an ongoing story.

Each season takes inspiration from a different entertainment genre, leaning into its most recognizable tropes and stereotypes. Season one was an over-the-top soap opera, season two introduced the twists and suspense of a mystery, and season three embraced the predictable romance and small-town charm of a Hallmark movie. Each season tells its own story, giving us room to explore new creative directions while keeping the characters and their personalities at the center of it all.

The characters themselves are named after their respective flavors: Natalie Nashville (Nashville Hot Chicken), Lola Lemon (Lemon Pepper), Kimmy Kimchi (Ancho Kimchi), and Henrietta (Original Buffalo). We made Henrietta the titular character of Henrietta Said: A Nut Soap Opera, bringing a familiar face from the packaging into the spotlight.

For production, we embraced a deliberately handmade approach. The characters were mounted on sticks, with our hands occasionally visible in the shots. At a time when AI-generated content is becoming increasingly common, we wanted the series to feel unmistakably human. From the scripts and voice acting to the sets and filming, everything was created by real people. The slightly imperfect, homemade look became part of the charm, especially for a series starring talking peanuts.

We released episodes every other week, giving audiences something to look forward to while maintaining a mix of entertainment, product-focused content, and retail announcements across the brand's social channels.

Throughout the campaign, we maintained Henrietta Said's signature, slightly sassy, brand voice—creating content that felt true to the brand while introducing it to new audiences.

Ultimately, we wanted to make advertising people would actually seek out. Rather than interrupting entertainment with a product message, we made the product part of the entertainment itself.

Results

Our biggest goal with Henrietta Said: A Nut Soap Opera was to drive people to the brand's Instagram profile, and the results exceeded our expectations.

Within our first six months managing Henrietta Said's social media, compared to the previous six months, we saw:

Beyond those two metrics, we also saw substantial increases in views, reach, and engagement, demonstrating that the series was introducing Henrietta Said to new audiences while giving them a reason to stick around.

And the series itself was doing exactly what we'd hoped. The first episode alone generated more than 150,000 views and 10,000 interactions, helping introduce the brand to an entirely new audience.

But some of our favorite results weren't necessarily reflected in the numbers.

We started seeing the same people returning to comment on new episodes, genuinely invested in the characters and their increasingly ridiculous storylines. Comments like "I love this mini series so much, I'm so invested" and "I can't believe I've been waiting for this like a soap and it's from a Seasoned Nut Company" showed us that people weren't just tolerating the advertising. They were looking forward to it.

Even more exciting, we could actually watch our strategy working in real time. Someone would discover the latest episode, follow the account, and then we'd see them liking older episodes as they worked their way backward through the series.

That was exactly the behavior we'd set out to encourage: getting people onto the profile and giving them a reason to explore.

In less than a year, Henrietta Said's Instagram following grew from approximately 3,000 to nearly 8,000 followers, more than doubling the audience.

For us, the biggest success wasn't just the growth. It was seeing people willingly spend their time with a brand's advertising, come back for more, and actively seek out content they might otherwise have scrolled right past.
