Kids React to Real Bugs | A Real Bug's Life Season 2

Objective

Following the success of Kids React to Real Bugs from A Real Bugs Life Season 1, we wanted to up the stakes for some more wild reactions! This time around, we bring the REAL bugs to the classroom in a touchy-feely-crawly experience. This piece is meant to spark joy and laughter through the hilarious reactions of children as they see and touch real insects. This video was created for YouTube with 9x16 cutdowns distributed on other platforms.  
 

Strategy

We worked with our creative agency, Spaceman, to shoot and produce this video for our YouTube Kids audience. For the social shoot, we made efforts to cast talent of multiple ages and backgrounds so this piece could resonate with anyone watching. Some of our young talent were actually returning stars of our original Kids React piece! In order to ground this shoot in reality, we decided to create a classroom-style set for this show-and-tell. For the best reactions possible, we chose to showcase larger bugs so more kids could see and interact with them. Furthermore, we handpicked shocking footage from A Real Bug’s Life 2 to share on screen to get our classroom riled up (leading to the especially hilarious praying mantis moment). 

Results

Overall, "Kids React to Real Bugs" performed incredibly well across channels, earning a combined 4.4 million views and surpassing impressions benchmarks for all platforms. We are very happy with the results of this asset, as we were able to bring back a content format that was a huge swing for us previously and plus it up into something new and exciting. The success of this video has emboldened us to expand into further reaction- based custom shoots.
